  13. Avoid revealing your address and phone number to strangers.

  1. Don't give fire a place to start.
  2. Establish 2 escape routes from each room of the house.
  3. Mark escape windows for infants and elderly.
  4. Establish regular fire drills, the more you rehearse, the less panic-stricken a child will be.
  5. Establish a designated meeting place outside your home.
  6. Establish a simple fire alarm signal to be used by your family.
  7. Install a fire alarm to provide early fire warning.
  8. Close all bedroom and all hall doors during sleeping hours.
  9. Make sure all escape windows and doors open easily.
  10. Place rope or ladder in convenient location to be used for escape from second floor.
  11. In case of fire, don't waste time in getting possessions and valuables - just GET OUT!
  12. Instruct children how to test doors for heat and smoke before opening.
  13. Cautiously open doors and be in position to close them immediately.
  14. Crouch close to the floor to avoid deadly gases.
  15. Above all, stay calm - don't panic. Remember, you and your family's future depend on being prepared. By following and establishing a simple set of rules in your household, you may have a material loss, but you can prevent a tragic loss.
